Today at the end of the day when only 3 or 4 kids were in my room doing end of day jobs, over the intercom we heard the announcement for Jodi's Friends to come down to the office. This is a service that is provided for children in our school whose families don't have enough money to buy them food over the weekend. One of the girls in the room said, "What is that? What does Jodi's friends mean?" So I explained in kid terms the program. The other little girl in our room said,"Yeh, and we'd never want to take food from that program if we don't we really need it." I agreed and added that yes, we'd want to have integrity when we use that program. The boy in the room said,"Well, I'd never need to be a Jodi's friend because my mom makes about $100 a month. We have plenty of money to buy food." The innocence in the little boy, thinking that $100 is enough each month to feed his family of 5 is so precious! LMJ!
